While we were in Montisi (Tuscany), we had planned a big dinner for the family and a couple living in the area who we met through a mutual friend in Napa and instantly became like family. Lourée and Niccolò had lived and worked in Napa and then a few years back, moved to Niccolò’s hometown in Montefollonico (about a 20 minute drive from Montisi) to renovate his family home into an eco B&B, Borgo di Sotto (linked here in case you’re planning a trip to Tuscany!) They shared so much joy and history about the area and that dinner was a true highlight for us on this trip. It reminded me why I cook, why I started the Potato Dumpling Society, and how powerful hospitality and gatherings are to heal our souls.
